Mormon country!

Today we crossed the flat prairies of Nebraska, following the Platte river just  as the pioneers did. We went to the Mormon Trail Center in Winter Quarters (now Florence near Omaha). It’s a very informative visitor center and we learned a lot through the exhibits.

Across the street on a beautiful green hill with huge old trees is the Pioneer Cemetery and the Winter Quarters Temple. It is a peaceful and lovely  place and we loved walking around and feeling the pioneer spirit. 600 pioneers were buried here. There’s a large plaque that lists the names and ages of many of them. I was amazed at how wooded and green and gorgeous this part of Nebraska is.

  1. Love the photos! We read all your past entries for FHE tonight and looked up the temples you've visited so far.
