We also went through the Independence visitor center. Wonderful displays that tell the story of the difficult Missouri days and all the persecutions. You can’t learn about church history without having a deep love and respect for what the early saints endured for their religion. Such faith and courage. I love hearing their stories in their own words. We also went across the street to the Community of Christ (reorganized LDS church) visitor center. It was very interesting- especially the museum that had many Joseph Smith era artifacts that are part of our shared history. They are good people too - doing good things throughout the world. But they don’t have the priesthood and all the truth.
